Everytime I felt I was the cool guy on the fire, one of these BA’s would come in and quickly correct us all. When the lead plane would come in all operations stop because we know that we’re in for a show.
This painting is based on the many shared photos from my colleagues of a tanker doing their thing. The image says more than I ever could about what is happening. I just wanted to do the pilot and the “aerial support” they are providing justice.
This project provided a variety of different approaches. The smoke and the slurry needed to be blended and worked to give the impression of transparency. The aircraft however, needed to be in hard detail with correct proportions and shading. I am pumped about how this one turned out.
