One of the most iconic tools of the wildland fire job. The Stihl MS460 was always a favorite, especially when equipped with a Bark-box exhaust and a Maxflow intake. As a sawyer you create a bond with your equipment. You know all the quirks because you have done all the maintenance, cleaning and put thousands of hours of use on the powerhead.
I wanted to create a used saw. The bar is worn, burnt and upside down to show the wear and tear we put on our equipment. The difficult part of this painting was to get the shape of the sagging chain correct, and the tediousness of highlighting each individual rivet.
I am extremely proud of this piece, I think I captured all the aspects of a used and a beloved chainsaw.
