This is an action painting of a Type 1 helicopter (Chinook) doing cool guy things. This delivery method is called a trailing drop. The pilot may be attacking the fire directly, or “treating” the green.
I wanted to take all the blue out of the sky, just as the smoke does in real life. With a heavy column the sun is blocked, and it never quite brightens. Trying to capture the movement of the smoke, the falling water and helicopter was difficult to give them all their spotlight. But overall, I think it was well executed. I particularly like the tree tops present through the haze.
This piece is for the viewer to decide what is happening. Is there a crew working, a firing operation under way or is the pilot doing their own thing?
