Newsletters
Hello and happy April newsletter today. This will be a shorter newsletter starting with how I can’t believe how fast April went, I’m even a couple days late getting my letter out. This month we wrapped up the month-long feature at Feat of Clay Gallery, I was cleared by my doctor to return to full activity from the car accident back in February, and I still work on display at 302 Artifacts, Farmington-NM, for their “Flower Power” theme. Overall a solid push in the right direction. I am taking diligent notes and what is working and what can be done differently.
Currently for PMtzArt,
I have some work that was donated to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation for their upcoming Gala of Valor, A Night to Honor our Firefighters, now in May. The work will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go towards the foundation to help support wildland firefighters and their families during times in need. I am also currently organizing my portfolio and preparing my application for The Durango Autumn Arts Festival in Durango, Colorado this September. This is a juried event and participation isn’t guaranteed for applicants. June is the application deadline so May will be spent painting and working towards the upcoming Art Festival.
Newest work!
Reflection
2FtX4Ft Acrylic on Canvas April/2025
This is piece number 2 of my newest series. With this series I combine my two favorite genres, landscapes and figurative to create a piece of work that makes me want to stare. This piece came together easier in my mental image than the actual execution. I was originally very happy with the work and felt completed. However, I was not 100% satisfied and sought to make it “perfect”. In the process I essentially painted the image over and ended up pretty much exactly where I was the first time I was complete! I was just relieved to get her back to where she originally was. I thought I had made a huge mistake. It was a good reminder to myself, recognize when enough is enough, and not to be greedy with your victories.
Looking into the future, I have plenty of ideas and inspiration to continue this series. I am very curious to see how it evolves and what works coming from it. My next planned piece will be the reflection of a fire-scape in the glasses of a Firefighter, so let’s see!
After my experience with the different galleries and displays, I have a lot of excitement to keep expanding my network. The plan is to work with other galleries and businesses, attend more exclusive art shows and keep learning how to become better.
That’s it for this month! May the 4th be with you, until next time,
Pmtz
