About
Some of the best Wildland fire pictures are taken at night. The crew can just be “Passing Time” waiting for the end of shift and it always looks very dramatic.
The focus of this painting is of the squad and ultimately the crew. That is why no individual is singled out. It takes the whole crew to make the picture and to get the job done. But, more than the work, it‘s the bond created between them. That is the real message. They aren’t cutting line, burning, gridding or holding, they are passing time.
The background was created to give the impression of a hazy smoke coming off of the glow from the burning fire. I am exceptionally proud of the details to the silhouettes and the postures of the crew members.
