This painting is based off a photograph captured from one of my fellow. This is a standard firing operation configuration. The holding resources are on foot and an engine following the igniters, holding the line.
I typically don’t paint my fire scenes with very much detail. This one was an exception with the engine, the crewmembers on foot and the grass in the foreground. It was a great challenge to bring them to life. I am most proud of how well the tree torching appears and little details in the fire. Such as, other trees in the background having already torched or just about to start catching fire.
This is a great piece to display in an office, above a desk or in a fire cache. We’ve all see this scene over and over, but it is always fun when its captured.
