About

This painting was inspired from a photograph taken by one of my colleagues on the Middle Mesa Fire in northern New Mexico, 2025. Watching a fire burn at night is really something, it usually makes from awesome pictures. Due to the extreme drought, low humidity, and the high temperatures, the fire was a real problem throughout the day. The fire personnel worked many long hours and many nights to grab a hold of it.

Depending on the light conditions, the blue in the sky changes in intensity and shades. Under direct sunlight the blue in the night sky really pops, under studio lights it begins to dim and the grey starts to settle, under normal room lighting, the black beings to take over. The trees in the foreground are silhouetted by the glow of the fire only background. I am incredibly grateful to my friend for sharing this photo with me and allowing me the opportunity to create this paring.

This work needs to be displayed where the sunlight can hit it, so the change in hues can completely appreciated.
