Newsletters
Hello
Happy June newsletter day. Pretty much in the full swing of fire season, so for the month of June I can’t say it was able to do a lot with PMTZ art. I spent 21 days in Arizona, so that was pretty much the majority of time for the month of June. I was able to finish the previous work from the May newsletter, and I was able to begin sketching up a new design for the next piece in my current series.
I had and I have a couple goals for PMtzArt this year. Each goal is more of a milestone or a personal challenge to take a step in the right direction. Besides making good art (which is the whole point of this), some steps have been to create an instagram, make a website, attend an art show, and work with a gallery. After the hardest first step you learn that it is do-able, and that next time it will be easier. Right now, my current goal is to now get better at them.
There are always some great art shows happening here between the states of CO, AZ, UT and NM. One of the ways to get my work seen outside of my community (you) is to get it out. So art shows. Keep attending and keep working my way up the “prestige” ladder. Because, I’ll be honest, some shows are better than others, and that’s just part of it. This year there has been a record number of artists applying for show, and on average only half the artists who apply are actually being accepted, due to the number of booth spaces available. So on that, I have applied for the fifth annual palisade art festival. I am still waiting on the official decision from the Durango fall art festival. I figured I would double my chances by applying to both and keeping my eye open for what could be the next one.
As always, the PmtzArt.com is in a state of constant development. There is always something to fix, adjust or make better. Like, improving the accessibility to information of each painting (dimension, history, print options and how to get a hold of me). With my Instagram and Facebook I am still working on my controlled photo dumb of my photographed art work, all while not trying to burn people out!
Projects
The completed work is called Size Up (<— website link)
Size Up is a 10in x 20in acrylic on canvas continuation of my black-and-white figures reflecting a colorful landscape in their glasses theme. Not the official title of the Collection, but I always felt the title is more of a when the time is right it comes, type of thing. You know, I just finished the Way of Zen by Alan Watts, and this reminds me a bit about the mind being a mirror that reflects. The size up process reminds me of that, observing and deciding. I think this has some carry over with our day to day as well.
The next work in my series of reflections and sunglasses is this little something.
I zoomed out on the sunglasses for this one. This is still going with the same theme of black and white with color. I was able to sketch this up here and there throughout the weeks. This one does not have a name yet. I do think I have 2 to 3 more paintings in me of this theme, and then I will be good to move on to something else. Any suggestions for what to reflect for this one and the next 2?
Looking into the future, I am tentatively looking at opening up the month of October for orders!
Well thanks again for your time,
PMtz
