September 2026

It’s kind of crazy how quickly everything came to an abrupt end.  I finished the last show of the summer art festival season, chased the last couple of smokes and then the rain came. It seems like only over a few days period, I went from catching sunburns and using big words to wearing hoodies and passing the day hitting refresh on my emails. The up and down flow that is life. I’m finding it is not very linear but it’s work and rest, it ebbs and flows, it’s busy and slows, with its hot and colds.

The slow time has been good to be able to bring things back to a different routine. I got a chance to work for free around the house and catch up on house projects that had been triaged, with more quickly being added. I was able to finish a painting which I will show below. There was a wedding which doubled as a reunion. Which was great to catch up and hear what folks were up to. We reminisced about the “glory days”, noticed all the gray hairs, and laughed.  I hope I stick to my promise of doing better and making those trips happen and not let so much time pass.  And then finally, PMtzArt.com got a makeover and is what I would consider a “real” sight and gallery.

I also finished my Viking, battle fame trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed the series but the ending and last book was predictable and a little avenger feeling. Currently reading a book titled Rabbits by Terry Miles. There are rumors of a game that is responsible for the deaths of people. It is played on-line, in the real world and anyone who knows the rules or where to find the clues are worried. I can barely use the spell check on my documents, so the talk of dark web onion browsers and coding language is a foreign language to me. I’m not even really sure what the difference is between hardware and software, except that one sounds more sturdy. It’s Matrix crossed with Ready Player one vibes. Not bad so far.

So that was then, what’s happening now?

The PMtz Art Gallery is open for online orders in the months of October and November. So today! Orders will be shipped at the beginning of each month so you don’t have to wait too long. Orders collected in October will be sent out the first week of November and the same pattern for orders collected in November.

I have artwork up in Leanor De La San Juan, Wines of the San Juan. Super grateful for Courtney and WSJ for giving me a resting place this winter!

Application season has opened for shows in Arizona for spring 2027, so I will keep inching away and expanding my audience.

New works

Light Waves

40in X 30in Acrylic on Canvas 2026

Suggestions from directors, curators, collectors, and organizers this past summer was to keep going big, and maybe think bigger, especially for these centerpieces. This is my largest work to date. A 40-inch tall by 30-incher. This work is a stark contrast of grayscale and color. I like creating work that gives the feelings of needing a second look, or however you describe that feeling of grunting/sighing before you say something like “oh man” or a “dang”. For me this piece nailed it. The hat was a challenge to create the highlights, waves and shape only using little lines of color to give the feeling of woven straw. The work will become available in November.

I was asked if I could use their wife as the model and the beach they got married as the reflection. I was asked about a daughter and the mountain range behind their childhood house. A father and their final resting place. These became super personal super quick. It stays true to the idea of the collection- the feelings that come from memories, perspective, and deja vu.

Well, I think that’s about does it for this month. I have plenty planned for October and I’m sure there will be plenty unplanned that will come. Thanks for the time!
