Rainy day is a portrait piece turned abstract. The model is from a photo of a friend of mine. I wanted to use this as the inspiration for the figure. The model was never meant to be a realistic portrait but as a representation of the emotions being felt. Her smile, demeanor and her content are the main stars of this painting. A rainy day is still a beautiful day.
I wanted to keep the background light but give enough contrast with tone and color to separate the model from it. I used color in the rain and drops to add life to the black and white, while separating the model from her surroundings. The idea is to make it appear as if there are rain droplets on and running down the lense of the camera.
This piece is to remind us that happiness comes from within and that we can change our perception of the world. It’s hard not to feel at ease when in her calm presence.
